Ki Class | Wednesday 5-6pm
Class Description
This class is less vigorous than aikido—there’s no falling down or rolling. Instructor Steve Self emphasizes awareness, Ki development, centering and cultivating the shift from distraction to mind and body unification (bodymind). We will practice 1) Ki breathing — a fundamental part of aikido and an opportunity to directly experience the oneness of mind and body, that extends to our original connection to the Ki of the Universe. And 2) Ki exercises to train the stability of bodymind under different postures and pressure. We work in pairs and groups to cultivate and test our capacity for unification while in movement. Comfortable clothes or athletic wear are suitable. Dressing out in training gis is not required for this class. Arrive with enough time to to be ready for class to start on time. If you are late, sit quietly at the back of the mats and wait for the sensei's cue to join the class. For ages 18 and up.
